Robert Hiscox serves as Deputy Chairman of Lloyd's during the years of 'Reconstruction and Renewal' (1993 - 1995) and leads the introduction of corporate capital into Lloyd's.
Bronek Masojada joins Hiscox Holdings as Managing Director, later becoming Chief Executive of Hiscox plc in 2000.
Advantage is taken of the new corporate capital rules at Lloyd's in two ways:
The Hiscox Select Insurance Fund plc raises money and is the first quoted spread vehicle investment trust, supporting a range of syndicates across the Lloyd's Market.
Hiscox Dedicated Insurance Fund plc raises money to be the first (and, until 1994, only) dedicated corporate vehicle to support the syndicates of one agency only - obviously those managed by Hiscox Syndicates Ltd. It is quoted under rule 563 on the Stock Exchange. |

Hiscox Holdings demerges its non-managing agency interests (Roberts & Hiscox Ltd and other assets) leaving Hiscox Syndicates Ltd and Hiscox Underwriting Ltd as sole subsidiaries. |

Hiscox Dedicated Insurance Fund plc buys 25% of Hiscox Holdings.
The first overseas offices are opened in Munich and Paris. |

Hiscox Dedicated Insurance Fund plc buys the remaining 75% of Hiscox Holdings Ltd, and changes its name to Hiscox plc. At the same time it acquires the Economic Insurance Company (established in 1901) which changes its name to the Hiscox Insurance Company. This gives the group the ability to underwrite in the Lloyd's market and in the Company markets as appropriate. |

Hiscox Online is launched as the first internet insurance site for owners of valuable homes. Acquisition of Chartwell renewal rights leading to creation of offices in Birmingham and Glasgow. |

Acquired renewal rights to Chubb high net worth business in Europe. Opened office in Colchester to serve as the Hiscox Business and Underwriting centre. |

Acquired renewal rights to a marine portfolio (energy, marine and energy liability and cargo) from Marlborough, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. |

Hiscox Bermuda opened in December 2005 to write a mix of worldwide reinsurance and group retail business. |

Hiscox Inc opened its first office in the USA in March 2006. The office, based in Armonk in New York State , is focused on rolling out Hiscox's specialist products for small and medium commercial business that is normally insured in the domestic market.
Hiscox introduced a new Bermudian domiciled holding company for the Group (Hiscox Ltd).
Hiscox now has offices in 12 countries, based in Amsterdam, Bermuda, Brussels, Cologne, Dublin, Guernsey, London, Madrid, Munich, New York, Paris, Lyon, Stockholm and Lisbon. |
