What is EMPLOYERS?

For nearly a century, EMPLOYERS® has provided cost-effective workers’ compensation insurance to America’s small businesses. As a specialty provider of workers’ compensation insurance, EMPLOYERS has the knowledge it takes to provide the coverage and specialized services that can help small businesses reduce costs. Like Hiscox, EMPLOYERS is also financially secure, with an ‘A-’ rating (Excellent) from the A.M. Best Company.

Are small businesses required to have workers’ compensation insurance?

Every state except Texas requires employers to have workers’ compensation insurance if they have one or more employee.

What types of businesses are eligible for EMPLOYERS workers’ compensation insurance?

EMPLOYERS insures a range of small businesses, including IT or technology consultants, marketing consultants, business consultants and most other professional services businesses. It can also cover restaurants, shops, medical offices, automotive repair and many other businesses. The list is long, so if you don’t see your specific industry listed, just call us to find out if EMPLOYERS can offer you workers’ compensation insurance.

How much does a workers’ compensation policy cost?

EMPLOYERS offers competitive rates and a low minimum premium. This can vary depending on business classification and location, but premiums start at just $500 in most states. Audits at the end of your policy period, or at renewal, ensure you are paying exactly the right amount. No more, no less.

How can I save money on my workers’ compensation insurance?

In some states EMPLOYERS offers a selection of deductibles (the amount you initially pay for any claim). By selecting a higher deductible, you’re carrying more of the risk, and this is offset by lower premiums. Please call one of our advisors for availability in your location.

What payment options exist for my workers’ compensation insurance policy?

We like to make things easy for you, which is why EMPLOYERS offers a range of flexible payment options including credit and debit card (Visa, MasterCard and Amex) payments, and the ability to pay straight from your bank account. You can also choose to pay the full amount in one lump sum each year or pay monthly to help spread your costs, with no installment fees charged.

Does EMPLOYERS offer safety practices tools?

Rates can be influenced by established, industry-specific risks and the performance of individual businesses in managing them. At no additional cost, EMPLOYERS offers their policyholders access to risk-management tools such as Loss Control ConnectionSM, an easy-to-use, online resource that can help a business build a workplace safety program focused on loss prevention.

What do I need to do to get a workers’ compensation insurance quote?

The application process is simple. Just call a licensed advisor at 866-283-7545 (Monday - Friday, 8 am - 10 pm). We’ll ask you for basic information about your business, including name, address, previous claims, business activities, payroll amounts and the number of years you have been in business. It’s as simple as that.

Is workers’ compensation insurance available in my state?

How do I report a claim to EMPLOYERS?

If you purchase a policy, full details will be provided in your policy documents. However, key information is also as follows:

Phone: 888-682-6671 (Monday - Friday, 7:00am – 8:30 pm EST)
Email: customersupport@employers.com
Post: P.O. Box 539004, Henderson, NV 89053

Please note that you should provide your name, title, policy number, address, phone number and email address when contacting us. A customer support specialist will then contact you to discuss your claim in more detail.

What should I do when an injury occurs?

Step #1 is to secure medical care for the injured worker. Please provide the injured worker with the address and phone number of the closest preferred medical provider in your area. In case of an emergency, call 911. EMPLOYERS offers a large network of care facilities. Workplace injuries don’t always happen during normal doctor’s hours. EMPLOYERS’ staff can help you locate the most appropriate care center, ensuring you are prepared before the need arises.
